My pet needs to have surgery. Should I be worried about the anesthesia?

Techniques for managing veterinary anesthesia are sophisticated and involved; we at Atlantic Veterinary Care pride ourselves on the safety and thoroughness of our approach. We tailor our protocols to suit each patient: from recommending pre-anesthetic bloodwork to identify hidden health problems to requiring that each patient receive an intravenous catheter. We customize our pre-surgical medications to minimize pain before, during, and after surgery. We provide local nerve blocks for dental extractions, and we frequently use reversable anesthesia for short, less involved procedures. We tailor our anesthetic induction to suit each individual, and provide constant intraoperative monitoring of blood pressure, capnography, and electrocardiography. Recovery is monitored as closely as surgery ensuring that each patient is alert and comfortable until they are ready to be discharged. Each surgical patient receives personalized discharge instructions outlining pain control, exercise, and dietary recommendations, as well as specific information pertaining to that patient’s procedure.
