What to Expect

Whether you are new to Atlantic Veterinary Care in Damariscotta, or someone we have known for years, you can expect our full attention to both your and your pet’s needs. We pledge to treat each and every one of you with courtesy and respect.

To allow ample time for all patients and to accommodate surgical procedures, we operate by appointment only. Emergency cases are the notable exception, and will receive priority treatment. As a result, should an emergency or critical situation arrive, the inevitable delay may occur. Rest assured that we will make a sincere effort to see each patient on time.

For your convenience, drop off (admit) appointments are also available at Atlantic Veterinary Care. A drop-off allows you to bring your pet at a time that is convenient for you, and leave him/her with us for a few hours, or even the whole day. Usually, we will ask that you bring your pet in the morning so the doctor(s) can examine the patient between appointments, or during the time purposely reserved for admitted patients.

Even though we make every effort to provide a comfortable, relaxed environment, some animals may still feel uneasy in unfamiliar surroundings with other pets and their people. For this reason, we ask that you please keep your pet in a carrier or on a leash. Leashes are provided for your convenience, and we ask that retractable leashes be kept short and in the locked position to prevent injury. Or, if you need a carrier, just ask; we are happy to loan you a carrier to transport your pet safely to and from your appointment.

We will gladly provide you with an estimate for services or diagnostics, and if your appointment entails more than originally planned, we will discuss all options with you, including recommendations and referral if indicated.

Payment in full is expected at the time of service. We gladly accept all major credit cards including Care Credit, as well as cash and checks.
